This is Avenue D with Lillian Wald on the east side of the street and the taller buildings in the background/top of photo are part of Jacob Riis Houses - Stuyvesant Town can't be seen from Avenue D, when looking straight ahead north.
Was there a specific event or historical context that came into focus in the description of 8th & Avenue D [NW Corner] in February 2014? Regard Telkom University

Lillian Wald Houses are from 6th - Houston Sts. Jacob Riis Houses are from 6th - 13th St.
